The flight of the Russian Su-27 fighter, which was raised to identify the B-52H strategic bomber of the US air force, passed over the neutral waters of the Baltic sea, without violating the border of Denmark, the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

"The Russian Defense Ministry denied the statement of the North Atlantic Alliance about the violation of the state border of Denmark by a Russian Su-27 fighter," the statement reads.

Earlier, NATO said that a Russian Su-27 fighter intercepted a US air force B-52 bomber over the Baltic sea, violating the Alliance's airspace.

The Russian Defense Ministry noted that the flight was carried out in strict accordance with International rules for the use of airspace, without violating the borders of other States. This, the Agency stressed, "is confirmed by means of objective control."

On August 31, Russian air control systems over the neutral waters of the Baltic sea detected three air targets approaching the Russian state border. To identify them, three Su-27s from the Baltic fleet air defense forces on duty were lifted into the air. Russian fighter crews identified the air targets as B-52H strategic bombers of the US air force.

Russian fighters returned to their home airfield after removing American aircraft from the Russian state border.
