Chechen Interior Ministry confirms liquidation of attackers who attacked police

Two residents of the Chechen Republic have been neutralized after attacking police officers who tried to stop their car. They detonated an improvised explosive device, the law enforcers were not injured, the press service of the republic's Interior Ministry told TASS.


"Tonight the officers of the patrol and checkpoint service of the police of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kurchaloevsky district in the course of preventive measures tried to stop the car "Lada", but the lawful demands of the law enforcement officers by the driver of the vehicle were not complied with. The unknown assailants attempted to escape, opened fire at the policemen with automatic weapons and threw an improvised explosive device towards them, which exploded. Two of the attackers were neutralized by return fire. There were no injuries to the police,"  the Interior Ministry said.


The police said the attack was carried out by residents of the villages of Tsotsi-Yurt in the Kurchaloyovsky district and Oktyabrskoye in the Shalinsky district of the Chechen Republic.
