Four militants who opened fire on law enforcement personnel were killed in Grozny. The National Anti-Terrorist Committee's information center told TASS that three law enforcement officers were killed.
"The criminals opened fire with automatic weapons at the law enforcement officers' suggestion to surrender to the authorities. In the course of the shootout, four bandits were neutralized," the NAC said. "Unfortunately, it was not possible to avoid losses among law enforcement forces. Two law enforcement officers were killed in the shootout and one was wounded," the NAC representative said.
According to the NAC, on Tuesday, a group of armed bandits was found in the territory of Oktyabrsky district of Grozny by security agencies together with special forces of Rosgvardia and police. After that, the head of the FSB department for the Chechen Republic of Russia made a decision to conduct a counter-terrorist operation and introduce a corresponding legal regime. The militants moved into a private house and it was blocked.
Now law enforcement officers are inspecting the place of the fighting.
According to the police headquarters, there is a threat of terrorist attacks in the area. "The Chechen operational headquarters have received information about a possible presence of an unidentified gang in Grozny's Oktyabrsky district. The criminals plan to carry out terrorist acts that may cause a great deal of public resonance and cause significant harm to the legally protected interests of the individual, society and the state. The operational headquarters are taking all necessary measures to stop criminal activity and minimize its consequences," the report says.
It was noted that a group of law enforcement agencies and government authorities has been urgently established. "The law enforcement agencies are conducting a set of investigative measures to obtain proactive information, and have taken measures to strengthen the protection and defense of facilities with a mass presence of people," the headquarters reports.
