Madrassa for the Blind and Visually Impaired Opens in Grozny

23 August

A new religious educational institution for the blind and visually impaired has been inaugurated in Grozny, coinciding with the 73rd anniversary of the birth of Akhmad-Hadji Kadyrov, the first head of the Chechen Republic. The madrassa, which can accommodate up to 60 students, was established to meet the increasing demand for specialized religious education in the region, according to Grozny's mayor's office.

The facility is equipped with three classrooms where students can study the holy Quran using the Braille system. In addition to the classrooms, the madrassa includes facilities for ablutions, prayer and sleeping rooms, along with a canteen and a medical room, ensuring that all necessary services are available to the students.

This new madrassa is the second of its kind in Grozny, built in response to the high demand and workload at the existing institution.

The opening of the madrassa was held on August 23, a significant date marking the 73rd anniversary of Akhmad-Hadji Kadyrov's birth. Kadyrov served as the head of the Chechen Republic from October 2003 until his assassination in a terrorist attack at Grozny's Dynamo stadium on May 9, 2004. The following day, he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia by the Russian president for his courage and heroism in the region's revival and in the fight against terrorism.
