Ramzan Kadyrov officially inaugurated as head of Chechnya

Ramzan Kadyrov, the elected head of Chechnya, took office at a session of the region's parliament on October 5, Grozny City Day and his 45th birthday.


"I swear in the execution of the powers of the head of the Chechen Republic to respect and protect human and civil rights and freedoms, to observe the Constitution of the Russian Federation, to observe and protect the Constitution of the Chechen Republic and to faithfully serve the multinational people," Kadyrov pronounced the oath, first in Russian and then in Chechen.


Guests who came to Grozny from Russian regions and foreign countries, the leaders of the regions of the North Caucasian federal district, public figures, members of the Federation Council and representatives of the clergy were present in the hall.


Ramzan Kadyrov was re-elected as head of the Chechen Republic at the elections of September 17-19. He has been the head of the region since 2007. He received 99.7% of the votes (he was a candidate of the United Russia party).
