The authorities of Chechnya plan to send six aircraft with humanitarian aid to victims of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, Regional Minister of National Policy, Foreign Relations, Press and Information Akhmed Dudayev told reporters.

"We are working on organizing six flights with humanitarian aid to the victims of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, the first of which will leave tomorrow. With this board, we will deliver to Syria tents with a total capacity of about 1,000 people, about 1,300 sleeping bags, more than 30 tons of warm clothing for adults and children, as well as necessities. In addition, tomorrow's aid will include large amounts of financial aid from the regional public fund named after Akhmad-Khadzhi Kadyrov for Syrian residents who currently live in mosques, so that they can rent housing," said Dudayev.

He also said that from the first day of the tragic events, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov had instructed him to collect information, analyze and develop possible measures of assistance and support for the victims of the earthquake.

"There are several settlements in Turkey where people from the Chechen Republic live, and assistance has already been sent to them twice. On the instructions of the head of the Chechen Republic, Deputy Prime Minister Hasan Khakimov organized the shipment of 20 tons of food, also at the request of Ramzan Akhmadovich [Kadyrov] a delegation from the Russian Federation headed by Daniil Martynov handed over several tons of food, baby food and tents to our compatriots," the minister added.

Dozens of containers for temporary accommodation will also be delivered to the victims in Turkey (not only Chechens).

The death toll only in Turkey exceeded 29 thousand people. According to Regional Emergency Director for WHO's Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean Rick Brennan, the death toll of the earthquake in Syria reached 8.5 thousand, about 4 thousand people were killed in the territory controlled by the official Damascus.
