The Russian Investigative Committee opened a mass murder case after a shooting in Kazan, it will be investigated by the central office. Svetlana Petrenko, a spokeswoman for the Investigative Committee, told reporters.
"The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan has opened a criminal case on the fact of the attack on Gymnasium №175, which resulted in the death of people, on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of two or more persons). Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin was instructed to transfer all materials of the case for a further thorough and comprehensive investigation to the Main Investigative Directorate of the agency's central office," she said.
According to the Investigative Committee and the NAC, an armed young man broke into an educational institution and opened fire there. "The attacker has been detained, his identity has been established - he is a local resident born in 2001," Petrenko said.
At the direction of the head of the Investigative Committee, criminalists of the Main Department of Criminalistics (Criminalistics Center) of the department were sent to the scene of the incident. They will assist investigators in finding and fixing all traces of the crime. "Alexander Bastrykin instructed to give a comprehensive legal assessment of all the circumstances of the tragedy," Petrenko said.
On Tuesday, a former student of school No. 175 in Kazan fired a gun in the educational institution. As a result, eight people were killed and about 20 injured.
