A counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime has been established in a portion of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic (KBR) territory, as reported by the region's operational headquarters.
"Major General Pyotr Gromushkin, the head of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the KBR, has decided to implement a legal regime of counter-terrorist operation from 05:12 on April 11, 2024, in parts of the Nalchik urban district and the Cherek municipal district of the KBR," the message stated.
This decision was made in accordance with the requirements of the Federal Law "On Countering Terrorism," aimed at suppressing and revealing terrorist acts, minimizing their consequences, and safeguarding the vital interests of individuals, society, and the state.
During the counter-terrorist operation, special measures and temporary restrictions will be enforced in these areas until further notice.
