In addition, 1 million copies of a coin made of base metal, its face value - 10 rubles, were issued. On the reverse side of the coin is a relief image of the coat of arms of Karachay-Cherkessia. On the ring around the circumference, there are inscriptions separated by dots: "Russian Federation" and "Karachay-Cherkessia Republic.

Karachay-Cherkessia Autonomous Region was formed on January 12, 1922. In 1991 it was transformed into the Karachay-Cherkessia Soviet Socialist Republic within the RSFSR. The region received its present name in December 1992.
