21 December 2023

The head of the republic, Rashid Temrezov, announced that the first group of refugees from Palestine, comprising 40 individuals, more than half of whom are children, has arrived in Karachay-Cherkessia.

"Tonight, we welcomed 40 residents of Palestine, including 26 children, and arranged transportation to the resort town of Teberda, where they are accommodated at a specially prepared recreation facility," Temrezov wrote on his Telegram channel.

He mentioned that comfortable living conditions, including three hot meals a day, have been provided for the newcomers. Facilities such as a prayer room for adults and a game room for children have been set up based on the preferences of the arrivals. Household areas with all necessary appliances have been organized on each floor for the convenience of the guests.

"For the residents of Palestine, round-the-clock medical assistance has been established, a pharmacy has been equipped, and the services of psychologists and interpreters have been organized, along with a cultural program. Children are engaged in an educational process tailored to their ages. Our aim is to make our guests feel comfortable, experience warmth and hospitality, helping them overcome the stress and fear from the military operations they witnessed," noted the head of the republic.

He highlighted that Karachay-Cherkessia, like other regions of Russia, has also contributed to sending humanitarian aid to Palestine. The residents of the republic demonstrated genuine empathy and actively participated in fundraising. With the support of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the first plane carrying humanitarian aid was dispatched to Palestine. Currently, preparations are underway for the departure of a second plane with the necessary supplies for the people in need.
