According to the FSB public relations center (PRC), "five active members of the extremist religious Association "At-Takfir wal-Hijra" banned in Russia have been detained on the territory of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, who actively propagated radical ideology and recruited new supporters to religious and extremist activities.
According to the FSB, they called on the faithful to reject secular laws and civil society institutions, and also advocated the creation of a theocratic Islamic state - a Caliphate-in the North Caucasus.
"In places of their residence and conspiracy gatherings 45 instances of pseudo-religious extremist literature, 10 handwritten texts with recordings of lectures by radical preachers, traumatic gun, converted by firing live ammunition, ammunition, shotgun, air pistol and edged weapons were discovered and seized ", PRC of the FSB reported.
Based on the collected materials, the federal security service of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case under part 1 and part 2 of article 282.2 of the criminal code ("Organization of activities of an extremist organization or participation in it"). "The detainees give confessions," the PRC noted.
