The FSB prevented a terrorist attack in Karachay-Cherkessia that was being prepared by a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria on the instructions of fighters of the Islamic state (IS, banned in Russia), the FSB Public relations center told reporters on Friday.
"The Federal security service in the city of Cherkessk in the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic prevented a terrorist act against law enforcement officers. A resident of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, born in 2001, who was preparing it on the instructions of the Islamic state militants, was detained," the FSB noted.
Components and tools for the manufacture of an improvised explosive device were seized from the terrorist, and correspondence with members of terrorist structures, exposing his criminal intentions, was found in the detainee's cell phone.
"During the investigative actions, the detainee made a confession," the FSB reported. With regard to him, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205 ("Preparation for a terrorist attack") and Part 2 of Article 205.5 ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization") of the Criminal Code.
The detainee was arrested.
