The number of COVID-19 infected medical workers in Karachay-Cherkessia is 60. There are about 110 more physicians in the self-isolation mode after contact with the infected.
"To date, we have 61 confirmed infected people and about 110 contacts, who also went to self-isolation. We have almost 200 medical workers out of service," Health Minister Kazim Shamanov of Karachayevo-Cherkessia said.
Four hospitals in Karachay-Cherkessia currently have 557 medical workers. The minister also announced preparations for the fifth hospital, which will open in Ust Dzhegut in the next two weeks. In addition, it is planned to increase the number of tests for the coronavirus from 700 to 1 thousand in the region.
According to the operational headquarters of the region, 1,067 confirmed cases of infection were detected in Karachayevo-Cherkessia, five died.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia has started an inspection of complaints from residents of Karachay-Cherkessia about a large number of coronavirus infections in the region, lack of medications and non-payment of incentive surcharges to doctors. This is reported on the agency's website.
"On the basis of numerous appeals from citizens on behalf of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation, the Prosecutor's Office of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic is checking information on numerous facts of coronavirus infection, non-payment of incentive surcharges to medical workers, the lack of medicine and personal protective equipment," the report says.
Representatives of the Prosecutor's Office, as noted, have begun checking the activities of the regional Health Ministry, the spending of funds allocated from the federal budget and the provision of hospitals in the republic with beds fund.
