Russian fighter of mixed martial arts (MMA) Khabib Nurmagomedov believes that he did enough to be called the best in his sport. He expressed this opinion on his arrival to Dagestan; the comment of the sportsman is given in the government account on Instagram.
"People reacted to the statement of retirement in different ways. I think that I chose the right time to leave. I've done enough in this sport to be considered the best. The nearest plans are to rest, to think everything through, life goes on," Nurmagomedov said.
On Saturday, Nurmagomedov defeated American Justin Gaethje at a tournament in Abu Dhabi using a triangle choke in the second round, defending the UFC lightweight title for the third time. After the fight, the Russian said that this fight was his last in the UFC. In total, the 32-year-old Russian has 29 wins and no losses in the MMA.
Peskov said that the exact date of the meeting of Putin and Nurmagomedov was not yet known.
President Vladimir Putin will personally meet with Khabib Nurmagomedov as soon as the epidemiological situation allows but there is no exact date yet, press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"Yes, indeed, the President said that when Khabib himself had a rest, and when the epidemiological situation calmed down more or less, they would definitely meet. There are no definite dates," the Kremlin representative said.
On October 25, Putin congratulated Nurmagomedov by phone on victory in Saturday fight.
