Russia's first professional association of hafiz (reciters of the Quran by heart) was created by the initiative of the Council for Islamic Education, a report published on the website of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia said.
"The first professional association of the Quran's hafiz has been created in Russia. The association includes 12 regions of Russia: Tatarstan, Chechnya, Dagestan, Saratov, Ivanovo, Mordovia, Penza, Perm, Kemerovo, Chuvashia, Karachay-Cherkessia and Crimea. The initiator of the creation of this organization was the Council for Islamic Education of the Russian Federation", says the report.
It is specified that the members of the association were representatives of the Quran in the muftiyats and centers of hafiz, and Abdurrashid Faizov, Director of the Kazan Center of training of hafiz of the Quran named after Uthman ibn Affan, was elected as the head of the association.
According to Faizov, the association will jointly develop common standards for all Russian centers for training of the Quran hafiz, develop the teaching of Quranic sciences and improve and unify the system of the Quranic competitions.
As stated earlier by Abdul-Vahed Niyazov, President of the European Muslim Forum, the Religious Board of Muslims of Serbia addressed the leaders of Chechnya with a request to build a school of Hafiz in the Muslim region of Sandzhak and name the institution after the first Chechen President Akhmat Kadyrov.
