Russian FSB officers prevented a terrorist act against law enforcers in Bashkiria and detained a Russian who was preparing it. This was reported to TASS on Friday in the Center for Public Relations (CPR) of the FSB.

"The Federal Security Service prevented a terrorist act in the Republic of Bashkortostan. As a result of the measures taken, a Russian citizen born in 1995, who was preparing an armed attack on law enforcement officers, was detained," the FSB reported.

The identity of the terrorist was not disclosed in the interests of the investigation. Firearms with ammunition and components of an improvised explosive device were seized from the cache he had equipped. Instructions for making an explosive device and correspondence with emissaries of the international terrorist organization banned in Russia, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, were found in the detainee's communication devices, exposing his criminal intentions.

According to a video published by the FSB's Center for Public Relations, the detainee confessed to preparing an explosion.

The video shows the young man with a nearby cache of weapons. "At this place, I am to get a weapon and an improvised explosive device to blow people up," he said, responding to a question from an operational officer.
