Preparation activities connected to the upcoming anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War are continuing in Dagestan.
According to TASS, at the foot of the ancient Naryn-Kala fortress in Derbent, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, "Garden of Remembrance" international action dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place.
In memory of those killed during the war, 30 pines were planted.
“An international action reached Derbent, located between the Caspian Sea and the foothills of the Caucasus. On May 5, the “Garden of Remembrance” was planted at the foot of the famous Derbent citadel of Naryn-Kala, which for many centuries protected the inhabitants of Derbent from attack by enemies and became a symbol of fortitude. Thirty pines were planted here in memory of our heroes,” the agency quotes a message from the organizing committee, in particular.
The event, as emphasized, was held in compliance with all safety rules, with a minimum number of participants.
At the same time, the residents of Dagestan also continue to contribute to the initiative #SadPamyatiDoma (“Garden of Remembrance at home"). “When we were faced with isolation, local residents most actively supported our initiative #SadPamyatiDoma. Cultural workers, schoolchildren massively planted trees in their plots, made crafts in the form of trees, sang songs, sincerely devoting them to their heroes, ”the organizing committee said.
The action “Garden of Remembrance” was launched on March 18 in the southern regions of the Russian Federation, after which other regions began to join it. Plantings will last until June 22.
The purpose of the action is to plant 27 million trees in Russia in memory of each of the 27 million compatriots who died during the Great Patriotic War.
Another gift for the Victory Day will be the documentary "Letters of the Front", prepared by journalists of the regional publication and employees of the National Museum of the Republic of Dagestan.
More than a dozen letters of participants in the Great Patriotic War from the archives of the museum will be read in the film.
As the author of the project, Malika Kurbanova, told in an interview for TASS, the film will be posted on the official pages of the museum, on social networks of the newspaper Dagestanskaya Pravda and the Ministry of Culture of Dagestan. The possibility of showing it on republican television is also being discussed.
“The project began with the publication of letters in the newspaper "Dagestanskaya Pravda ”. Now we have decided to make a video version of the project - this is a small documentary film where letters sent by soldiers and officers from the fronts of the Great Patriotic War are read by museum employees. These letters are published for the first time - for three-quarters of a century they were kept in the archives of the Taho-Godi National Museum of the Republic of Dagestan. We carefully took the letters of Soviet soldiers from the archive, deciphered them, reviving the faces, characters, feelings, ”said Kurbanova.
Also, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory, mini-concerts with the participation of creative teams of the republic and volunteers will be held in the courtyards of houses where veterans of the Great Patriotic War live.
“A stylized car with creative “front-line brigades” will create the atmosphere of the Victory Day holiday in every yard where a veteran of the Great Patriotic War lives. Performers and volunteers will come to the veterans’ places of residence with a small festive concert: war songs, poems, scenes from the frontline life and fragments of theatrical productions based on such works as "Eternally Alive”, “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” “His Name Was Not Listed” and others,” said, in particular, the press service of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of Dagestan.
Veterans, as noted, will receive a personal congratulation, and residents of nearby houses "will remember that a person who has survived the war lives next to them."
The action was organized by the Ministry of Youth of Dagestan together with representatives of the Victory Volunteers movement; it will be held in Makhachkala and other cities and regions of Dagestan.
During the war, according to TASS, 180 thousand people left Dagestan for the front, of which more than 90 thousand died. Dagestanis heroically fought at the walls of Brest, Leningrad, Moscow, Odessa, Sevastopol, Stalingrad, Novorossiysk, in Ukraine and Belarus, in the North Caucasus, participated in the liberation of the peoples of Europe. For feats accomplished during the years of Great Patriotic War, 75 Dagestanis were awarded the high titles of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia, eight people became full holders of the Order of Glory.
