The number of people who went to doctors with poisoning in Buinaksk has increased to 196, 96 of whom were hospitalized. Mostly children, the city's mayor's office told TASS on Friday.
"A total of 196 people, including 165 children, have sought help since the beginning [of the incident]. 68 people were discharged, all children. At the moment, there are 96 people, including 73 children, lying in hospitals in Buynaksk," the source said.
The city administration reported earlier that there were no shortages of beds in the city, and that all the necessary medicine was available in full.
On Thursday, the Rospotrebnadzor department in Dagestan reported that tests of tap water in Buinaksk have detected the DNA of a dysentery pathogen. Schools and kindergartens in the city have been temporarily suspended and the use of tap water for drinking and household needs has been banned. The investigating authorities of the republic initiated a criminal case under Article 238 of the RF Criminal Code ("Provision of services that do not meet the safety requirements of life or health of consumers").
