Matvienko: state support is needed for development of Ingushetia and realization of its potential

Federal support is necessary for the development of the Republic of Ingushetia and the improvement of its socio-economic condition, said the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko in a conversation with the head of the region Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov.


"Of course, taking into account the problems that have accumulated in Ingushetia, objectively they exist, we know them well, we need serious support from the federal center," Matvienko said.


The Speaker of the Federation Council stressed that Ingushetia has a huge potential and it is necessary to create conditions for this potential to be unlocked. "In order to improve life, the standard of living, people's incomes, well-being, comfortable environment. <...> The fact that you're persistently working with the federal authorities, that's right, it's necessary. And I want to emphasize once again that we will do our best to help you", she said.


Matvienko added that the Federation Council will prepare a resolution coordinated with the Government of the Russian Federation on rendering support measures for economic and social development of the Republic. "We will certainly take into account all your proposals," she added.


For his part, Kalimatov thanked Matvienko for holding the Days of Ingushetia in the Council of Federation, as well as for the attention to the republic, to its problems. "The tasks that were, in the first place, set by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the consolidation of society, the social issue, in this part I think that we have shown maturity by the republic, the inhabitants of the republic", he said.


The Days of the Republic of Ingushetia are taking place from November 17 to 19 in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia. Representatives of the delegation of the Republic of Ingushetia, headed by the head of the region Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov and the chairman of the People's Assembly Magomet Tumgoev presented to the senators the current situation in the region, reported on the successes and problems of socio-economic development.


About the region


Ingushetia is the youngest republic in the Russian Federation, established on June 4, 1992. It is located on the northern slopes of the foothills of the Greater Caucasus Range, in its central part. The Republic of Ingushetia borders North Ossetia and the Chechen Republic. A section of the state border of the Russian Federation with the Republic of Georgia runs through its territory. There are 4 districts and 5 towns of republican subordination. The capital is the city of Magas. The main river is the Sunzha.
