Putin Nominates Three Candidates for Head of Ingushetia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed three candidates for the position of Head of the Republic of Ingushetia to the regional parliament. The nominees are the current Head of the Republic, Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov; Alihan Arapkhanov, who heads the department at the Main Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise for the republic; and Islam Gadiev, Chairman of the Regional Committee on State Construction and Legislation.

 

According to the republic’s government press service, "Vladimir Putin has put forward three candidates for consideration by the deputies of the People's Assembly of the republic. Alihan Arapkhanov is a deputy of the People's Assembly, head of the department at the Main Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise, and a member of the A Just Russia—Patriots—For Truth party. Islam Gadiev is a deputy of the People's Assembly, chairman of the committee on state construction and legislation, and a member of the LDPR. Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov is the incumbent Head of the Republic of Ingushetia."

 

The election is set for September 8, when the parliament will choose one of the proposed candidates.

 

Kalimatov, who succeeded Yunus-Bek Yevkurov following his early resignation in June 2019, was initially elected Head of Ingushetia on September 8, 2019.
