Four supporters of IS, who were preparing terrorist attacks, were detained in Ingushetia

The FSB has detained four supporters of the international terrorist organization IS, banned in Russia, who were preparing terrorist attacks in Ingushetia, including attacks on law enforcers using explosive devices, the Russian Federal Security Service's Center for Public Relations (CPR) told TASS on Monday.


"The Federal Security Service, together with the Investigative Committee, the Interior Ministry and the Rosgvardiya, has suppressed the activities of supporters of the international terrorist organization ISIS (formerly known as IS, banned in Russia) involved in planning and committing terrorist crimes in the Republic of Ingushetia," the CPR said. - "Four citizens of the Russian Federation have been detained".


The FSB reported that they established contacts with members of IS through the Internet "with the aim of coordinating their activities in preparing and committing terrorist crimes, including attacks on law enforcement personnel using improvised explosive devices and stabbing weapons and propaganda of terrorist ideology among citizens of the Russian Federation."


Firearms and bladed weapons, homemade explosive and incendiary devices, components and tools for their production were seized from the detainees, and correspondence with members of the terrorist organization confirming their criminal intentions was found in the communications equipment.


The press service of the Investigative Committee told reporters that criminal cases were opened against four residents of Ingushetia under Part 2 of Article 205.5 ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization"), clause 5 of Part. 33, part 2 of article 205.5 ("Aiding participation in the activities of a terrorist organization") and 205.6 ("Failure to report a crime") of the Criminal Code. The detainees include two residents of Sunzha who took an oath of allegiance to the leader of IS. Two other residents of the republic agreed to provide aiding and abetting assistance in the form of participation in the search for locations for camps to hide members of the terrorist organization, storage of the means of committing crimes, planning of crimes and implementation of other tasks of the terrorist organization. All four were arrested by the court.
