Aksenov responded to NATO statement on Crimea

03 December 2020

Commenting on NATO's statement about Russia's military build-up in the Crimean region, Crimean leader Sergei Aksenov said the strength of the Russian Armed Forces' Crimean group meets the current threats and is sufficient to fully ensure the security of the Crimean region and its residents.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the day before that Russia "continues to build up its military strength in the Crimea and is increasingly deploying forces to the Black Sea region". NATO, in turn, is "responding by strengthening its presence on the land, at sea and in the air".

"The main purpose of such statements is to justify the alliance's increased presence in the Black Sea region. It's a common demagogical trick to get off your sick head on a healthy one," Aksenov wrote on his VKontakte page.
