Representatives of 22 Arab countries confirmed their readiness to visit Crimea with a business mission in March or April 2022 to get familiar with products manufactured on the peninsula, Irina Kiviko, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the republic told reporters.
In January it was reported about the visit of the Crimean delegation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It visited the global universal exhibition Expo 2020, held in Dubai. The representatives of Crimea proposed to the Arab business to invest into the development of the Simferopol airport, in particular in the construction of the hotel. The participation of the peninsula's ports in the maritime trade communication of the Russian Federation with the states of the Arab world was also discussed.
"We have invited representatives of 22 Arab countries with a reverse business mission so that they could be directly convinced both of the quality of our products and of the high world standards of our Crimean products directly in Crimea. We are only waiting for the removal of covid restrictions. As soon as the restrictions are lifted, businessmen from the Arab countries have confirmed their willingness to visit us in March-April, as soon as possible," Kiviko said.
The vice prime minister noted that "memorandums for wheat and essential oils have already been signed, and now the issue of food products supply is being worked out".
After the 2014 referendum and the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia, Ukraine and Western countries imposed a number of sanctions against Russia, Russian businessmen and politicians, as well as foreign visitors and company representatives visiting Crimea. These countries have imposed a blockade on any positive information about the situation on the peninsula and have prevented the region from participating in international events abroad. However, numerous foreign delegations come to the peninsula, participate in forums, congresses, scientific conferences, sports competitions, conduct scientific work with scientists of Crimea and Sevastopol, create and develop business, and maintain public relations.
