A court in Crimea has arrested a supporter of the Islamic State (IS) international terrorist organization banned in Russia on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack on the railroad, a law enforcement source of the region told TASS.

"Yes, he was arrested the day before for two months," the source said.

Russia's FSB has foiled preparations in Crimea for a terrorist attack on the railroad by an IS supporter at the behest of the leaders of the Krym Crimean Tatar battalion. Earlier on Thursday, the Center for Public Relations (CPR) of the Russian Federal Security Service reported that two improvised explosive devices with a total weight of 3 kg, two electric detonators, a scheme for laying a bomb under the railway track, extremist literature, a flag and propaganda leaflets of the Krym battalion were seized at the residence of the detainee. A criminal case was initiated under Part 1, Article 30. 1 of Article 205 of the RF Criminal Code ("Preparation for an act of terrorism") and Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the RF Criminal Code ("Illegal storage of explosives and explosive devices").
