The statement of Ukrainian officials about their desire to prevent the implementation of the project on the desalination of water in Crimea speaks only of their hatred for the residents of the peninsula, says the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
"This attitude towards people Ukraine has always demonstrated in Crimea. Having previously stopped access to freshwater through the canal, now they want to make efforts to deprive people of water at all," Volodin told reporters on Friday. "How much someone should hate people!" he added.
However, Volodin is confident that Ukrainian politicians will not be able to realize what they have in mind. "At one time they said that both the Crimean bridge will not be built and there will be no tourists in the Crimea. Their next illusion is also to be dispelled," Volodin said.
On Tuesday the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksenov announced the plans to create desalination plants to eliminate water shortages on the peninsula. In particular, he noted that the creation of Russia's first desalination plant will start in Crimea on January 1, 2021. Approximate construction period - from 14 to 16 months.
In turn, on 24 December, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine plans to take steps to prevent the implementation of the desalination project in Crimea.
Because of the drought and shallowing of reservoirs in Simferopol and its suburbs, as well as in Yalta, drinking water is supplied by the hour in the morning and evening. After the New Year holidays water will be supplied according to the schedule in Alushta. In Sevastopol, the state of high readiness is introduced.
