Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the idea of creating a museum and pantheon in Beslan, noting that it is a tragic story in the life of the country and requires special attention and participation; the Russian leader agreed to order that funding be provided as a matter of priority.
The acting head of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, told the president that the heating circuit of the pantheon will be laid this year, the building will be built next year, and there will be a museum there. He also noted that not all of the 40 activities planned in the program of socio-economic development of Beslan have been funded.
"So I ask you, Vladimir Vladimirovich, to give me an order in this matter on a priority basis and in full... The volume is somewhere around 800 million, but this is until 2025. The first facility is the pantheon and the museum itself. And we will build the remaining objects, if you give such an order - in the first order and in full to provide funding," he said.
"Of course. It's a tragic story in the life of our country, in recent history, which always requires special attention and participation. Therefore, there will definitely be such an order," Putin responded.
The terrorist attack in Beslan school, which killed 334 people, including 318 hostages, 186 of whom were children, took place in the morning of September 1, 2004. Terrorists took more than 1,000 hostages, including small children, inside the school gymnasium. The people were forcibly kept in the school for three days, without water or food.
