The federal center will support the activities of Sergei Menyailo as acting head of North Ossetia, which has always been Russia's outpost in the region. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this on Friday during a video conference with Menyaylo.

"We will see you in a month or a month and a half, and you will tell us how you are entering this business. And we, for our part, will do everything to support you," the head of state addressed Menyailo.

According to Putin, North Ossetia "has always been an outpost of Russia in this region. Its main asset is of course the people: talented, hardworking and very courageous. That is how it has historically developed," said the President of the Russian Federation. He also mentioned the very high level of education in the republic. As the head of the state stressed, with the support of these fundamental things, it's necessary to achieve the results that the new incumbent head of the region is facing.

According to the Kremlin press service, on Friday the Russian president accepted the resignation of the head of North Ossetia, Vyacheslav Bitarov, and appointed Menyailo as interim head of the region, relieving him of his post as deputy ambassador to the Siberian Federal District.
