The FSB prevented a terrorist attack in Vladikavkaz: a supporter of the banned "Islamic state" was preparing an explosion, after which he planned to go to the Middle East to fight for terrorists, the special service reported on Tuesday.
"A terrorist attack was prevented in the city of Vladikavkaz. A Russian citizen born in 1990 was detained, who was preparing to detonate an improvised explosive device at one of the administrative buildings, " the release reads.
After the attack, the detainee planned to go to the Middle East "to participate in the activities of the international terrorist organization ISIS".
Components of an improvised explosive device were found in the Islamist's cache. He also found correspondence with Islamic state militants located abroad.
A criminal case has already been opened under the article "Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization", and it is planned to add an article about an attempted terrorist attack soon.
As the FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov reported in mid-June, nearly 160 terrorist attacks have been prevented in Russia over the past ten years.
