An explosion destroyed several apartments on two floors of an apartment building in Naberezhnye Chelny in Tatarstan, emergency services told TASS.
The explosion occurred in a five-story panel building in the building 48/21 in Noviy Gorod. "According to preliminary data, six apartments on the top two floors were destroyed," the source added.
Four people were injured, 32 were evacuated, the EMERCOM press service said. Several people could be under the rubble.
"One injured person was extracted from under the rubble. He is in a critical condition, already in an ambulance and will be sent to the Naberezhnye Chelny emergency hospital, where there is everything necessary," the press service of the Russian Ministry of health said.
According to a source in the emergency services, there was a gas leak in the house.
The Ministry of emergency situations specified that there was an explosion of a gas-air mixture, the ceiling between the two floors was damaged. "According to preliminary data, there was an explosion of the gas-air mixture in an apartment on the fourth floor of a five-story panel apartment building. There was damage to the ceiling between the fourth and fifth floors," clarified the ministry. The MES added that data on the victims are being found out.
Representatives of all emergency services are working at the scene.
