The bust of the first President of Tatarstan, Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation, state adviser of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev was opened on Wednesday in the village of Anyakovo in the Aktanyshsky district, head of the press service of the President of the Republic Lilia Galimova told reporters.

"The opening ceremony of the bronze bust of the first President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, was held in the village of Anyakovo in the Aktanyshsky district of the Republic," she said.
The monument was installed next to the house-museum of Sharip Shaimiev (father of Mintimer Shaimiev). It was created in the regional creative public organization "Union of artists of the Republic of Tatarstan" by sculptor Fanil Valiullin.
"The life path of Mintimer Sharipovich is a bright example and reference point for the younger generation of Tatarstan citizens. It is on such examples that we should educate the younger generation, real patriots, " the press service quotes Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who made a welcoming speech at the ceremony.
Shaimiev's name is associated with social projects and programs in Tatarstan, such as the elimination of dilapidated housing, gasification of settlements, and a social loan. He is a special envoy of UNESCO for intercultural dialogue. The projects of the first President of Tatarstan on the revival of the cities of Bolgar and Sviyazhsk were supported by patrons from Russia and abroad. Now Shaimiev is creating a network of multilingual complexes in the region.
On March 29, 2013, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree "On establishing the title of Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation". According to the presidential decree, "if a person is awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation and the title of Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation in his homeland, a bronze bust with the appropriate inscription is installed on the basis of the decree of the President of the Russian Federation".
