City ready to welcome tourists on New Year's Eve instead of St. Petersburg has been named

15 December 2020

Kazan can host Moscow tourists who previously planned to spend their winter vacations in St. Petersburg and other "closing" Russian cities, ATOR reports.

Unlike many cities where cafes and restaurants have been banned from operating during the holidays, Kazan will host the festivities in almost pre-COVID terms.

According to the decision of the government of Tatarstan, all catering facilities will be open on New Year's Eve until 3 a.m. on January, 1. Thus, guests will be offered both a festive dinner and a full-fledged show program.

No significant restrictions were introduced in the republic - unlike Moscow and St. Petersburg, the entire hospitality industry is working at full capacity here. Hotels, museums, theaters and cinemas, shopping and entertainment centers are functioning in Kazan, and restaurants and cafes are open until 12 o'clock at night.

The situation with coronavirus infection, according to experts, is under control. Operational headquarters meet every two days. The head of the republican department of Rospotrebnadzor Marina Patyashina noted that by mid-December 2020 the proportion of severe forms of COVID-19 decreased by 15 percent.

The availability of hotels in the capital of Tatarstan for the New Year vacations and before the introduction of restrictions in St. Petersburg was very high - up to 85 percent. Now authorities expect its growth up to 100 percent.

According to experts, a lot of Moscow citizens will come to Kazan on New Year.
