The Kazan Madrasa "Muhammadiya", which is one of the oldest Islamic educational institutions in Russia, opened after restoration, the press service of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan told RIA Novosti.
"As a result of the renovation and restoration work 7 classrooms, 2 classrooms for people with limited mobility, 2 teachers' rooms, a prayer room, a reading room, 2 lingo-phone rooms, 2 IT rooms, a dressing room, a wudhu room, etc. were accommodated in the building. In addition, the school building is now fully equipped with new furniture, computer and special teaching aids, and air-conditioning," the Muftiyat noted.
The madrasa, founded in 1882, now teaches about 1200 students. They are taught 56 subjects, both theological and secular. As noted in the organization, an Islamic university is planned to be opened on the basis of the educational institution.
