Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov awarded Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev with the Duslyk (Friendship) Order for his significant contribution to the development of cooperation between the republics, the press service of the Kazakh leader reported.
According to the press service, after completing his tour of the Kazan Kremlin, the Kazakh president held a meeting with Minnikhanov. Before the event, he left an entry in the book of honorary guests.
"Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Rustam Minnikhanov discussed ways to expand cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tatarstan in trade and economic, investment and cultural and humanitarian spheres," the press service said.
The Kazakh leader informed his interlocutor about the productive negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow that took place the day before.
"I am very pleased with their content, the results of this meeting. We naturally talked about the fact that Kazakhstan will develop its cooperation with Tatarstan as a subject of the Russian Federation. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in his speech at the press conference highlighted Tatarstan as one of the most dynamically developing subjects of the Russian Federation and welcomed my decision to visit the republic on a working visit," Tokayev said.
The President of Tatarstan expressed his gratitude to Tokayev for his visit to Kazan and noted the strategic importance of developing cooperation with Kazakhstan.
"At the end of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov awarded Kassym-Jomart Tokayev with the Duslyk (Friendship) Order for his significant contribution to the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tatarstan and the strengthening of friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples," the press service reported.
