The authorities of Tatarstan have launched a "Digital Hygiene" project to counter the spread of extremism among young people on the Internet, Damir Fattakhov, the head of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan, said on Monday at a board meeting of the Ministry.

According to him, extremists, in particular, have become more active on the Internet, recruiting teenagers in online communities. Also, young people are threatened by such phenomena as cyberbullying (bullying on the Internet) and cyber-fraud.

"To counter all this, as part of the MinMolTeens concept, we launched the "Digital Hygiene" project. This is a set of products such as videos, audio and video podcasts, meme sets, and interactive activities developed with our psychologists and involving teenagers themselves. Their important task is to form critical thinking about everything that is on the Internet, to develop digital immunity. Many things are already on the Internet today, gaining thousands of views", he said.

According to Fattakhov, psychological services should play a leading role in this matter. Last year, the ministry monitored their current state. For the current year, the task is to develop and approve a draft subprogram "Development of the state system of psychological activity".
