A Muslim women's Quran recitation contest will be held on May 29 in the village of Urussu in Tatarstan, and applications are being accepted now, the press service of the region's Religious Board of Muslims told RIA Novosti.
"Muslim women who are citizens of Russia, regardless of age, can take part in the contest. According to the requirements of the contest, they must not be students of Quran-learning centers or Hafiz (experts in the Quran). Any contestant may take part only in one category," the organization reports.
The Muftiate explained that the contest aims to encourage Muslim women "to acquire a true knowledge of Islam". Applications to participate will be accepted until May 5.
