The FSB of Russia in the course of a special operation detained in five regions of Russia financiers of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (ISIS, banned in Russia). the Center for public relations of the FSB reported TASS.
"The Federal security service jointly with the Investigative Committee, the Interior Ministry of Russia, Rosfinmonitoring and Rosgvardia carried out an operation to disrupt criminal activities of clandestine cells operating on the territory of Moscow, the Moscow region, the Republic of Dagestan, the Krasnoyarsk territory and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous district which collected and dispatched funds on the needs of the international terrorist organization "Islamic state". Criminal cases have been initiated against six Russians under part 1 of article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Assistance to terrorist activities").
According to the FSB, they are involved in the activities of a criminal group whose members were previously convicted of financing terrorist structures operating in Syria. During the searches, means of communication and payment instruments that indicate their illegal activities were seized.
The FSB also showed footage of the arrest of financiers of a terrorist organization, most of them were detained in apartments, one-on the street. They found cards of Russian banks.
Collected funds
According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, six ISIS financiers collected at least 500 thousand rubles.
According to the investigation, in the period from 2016 to June 2017, ISIS members from among the Russians who were in Syria, attracted a resident of Dagestan, who provided on the territory of Moscow, the Moscow region, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, the Krasnoyarsk territory and the Republic of Dagestan collection money through transfers using payment systems and bank cards. The money was delivered to the Syrian territory controlled by members of an international terrorist organization.
"During this period, at least 500 thousand rubles were collected for the financing of terrorism from persons located in the territories of the North Caucasus, Southern, Central, North-Western, Siberian and Ural Federal districts, including those involved in criminal cases of terrorist crimes," the press service of the IC reported.
The investigation plans to apply to the court for the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention for six detainees, their accomplices are being established.
