The situation in the Gaza Strip, which has been under a de facto blockade by Israel since October 7, is nearing a critical point. Doctors are forced to conduct surgeries without anesthesia in hospital corridors due to the shortage of medicines. This information was conveyed by Dr. Jawad Awad, the Palestinian Ambassador to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, to TASS.
"The shortage of medicines forces doctors to conduct surgeries without anesthesia in hospital corridors due to the limited availability of hospital beds," he mentioned. The ambassador also pointed out that hospitals in the Gaza Strip are frequently subjected to rocket attacks. He cited an incident on the evening of October 17 when a rocket struck the premises of Al-Ahli Hospital, killing 471 individuals and injuring 342 others, according to Palestinian accounts.
The diplomat stated that a humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding in the Gaza Strip. Basic necessities such as electricity, water, medicine, food, and fuel are in severe shortage. He also mentioned that the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza is effectively being obstructed by the Israelis.
