The memorandum on the development of logistic corridors signed between the governments of Russia and Uzbekistan will increase bilateral exports and minimize trade barriers between the countries, the press service of the Russian Cabinet of Ministers said on Tuesday.
"The document fixes priority areas of cooperation. They include improvement of customs, sanitary and phytosanitary procedures, simplification of goods movement between the countries, implementation of infrastructure projects, in particular - agro-logistic and wholesale distribution centers, development of interaction between state agencies in the field of digitalization. <...> Implementation of the document will help to minimize foreign trade barriers, will facilitate the formation of transport routes with more flexible customs and logistics procedures," stated the message.
The press service noted that the parties will develop and implement joint action programs, exchange information and documents and prepare analytical reviews on issues of mutual interest. The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan will coordinate the implementation of the memorandum.
On June 22, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov in Moscow held the second meeting of the joint commission at the level of heads of governments. At the meeting, the sides signed a number of agreements in the customs sphere and other documents, including a memorandum of understanding in the development of logistics corridors.
