106% more Russians visited Turkey in January and February compared to similar period in 2022

The number of Russians who visited Turkey from January to February 2023 increased by 106% compared to the same period in 2022. This is stated in the statistics released on Friday by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.


During the first two months of the year 507 thousand Russian citizens have arrived in the country, and in 2022 246 thousand Russians came to Turkey during the same period. Russia is the leader in the number of citizens who arrived in Turkey in January - February: the share of Russian tourists is 13.09% of the total tourist flow into the country.


Russia is followed by Bulgaria (8.2%, 318 thousand people), Germany (7.4%, 288 thousand), Iran (5.8%, 225 thousand), Georgia (5.6%, 218 thousand). A total of 3.78 million foreigners have arrived in Turkey since the beginning of the year. Only 0.3% of the total number of tourists stayed in the republic only one day.


The most popular regions for visiting are Istanbul (58%, 2.27 million foreigners), the province of Edirne (12%, 465 thousand), Antalya (9.8%, 379 thousand). These data are based on border crossing statistics in these cities and provinces.
