Yemen's Ansar Allah (Houthis) rebel movement is ready to buy wheat from Russia, paying in rubles, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a representative of the movement's High Council of Politburo, said on Thursday.
"Russia has recently offered to help us with wheat supplies, we are ready to buy it and a number of derivative products," al-Houthi wrote on Twitter. - "All transactions will be carried out only in rubles, another currency is not considered."
Earlier, Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin noted that "he considers it correct to expand the list of goods exported for rubles: fertilizers, grain, oil, oil, coal, metals and timber".
Representatives of the movement were among the first to support the decision to recognize the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, which was made by the Russian leadership on February 21 of this year.
In Yemen, the confrontation between government forces and rebel militia has been ongoing since August 2014. It reached its most active phase with the invasion of the country in March 2015 by the coalition led by Saudi Arabia.
