The safety of Russians who prefer to rest in Egyptian resorts is ensured to a sufficient extent due to additional protective measures taken by the Egyptian side and due to six years of hard work of specialists from both countries. This was announced to TASS on Thursday by the Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin canceled a 2015 decree banning Russian airlines from flying to Egyptian resorts. Also, the recommendation not to sell tours to Egyptian resorts was canceled.
"The considerable time that has passed since then [since the suspension of air traffic with Egypt] and the hard work of specialists of the two countries all this time confirm that these conditions [ensuring the safety of air passengers] have been met, that the interests of Russian citizens in terms of ensuring their safety as a result of the additional measures taken by the Egyptian side are sufficiently protected. This is the most important thing," said Kosachev.
He added that Russians remember well the tragic circumstances that led to the adoption of the presidential decree six years ago. "It was never based on politics, but on sincere concern about the insufficient security conditions for air passengers at Egyptian airports and the transparency of the conditions under which a return to the normal practice of air travel is possible," the senator said.
