Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin called to increase trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, which declined against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic.
During talks on Monday with his Kazakhstani counterpart Askar Mamin, the Russian Prime Minister said that relations between the two countries are developing dynamically, with line ministers in constant contact and "constantly working to ensure that cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan develops effectively, in accordance with the goals and objectives set by the leaders of the two countries."
Separately, Mishustin noted joint work within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). "It continues very effectively and actively, but in bilateral relations, it is very important to increase our trade and economic cooperation, which, unfortunately, did not develop so effectively due to the pandemic. But today we are seeing progress, we have an increasing mutual trade turnover in many sectors," said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Russia. He added that this applies in particular to agriculture, industry, trade and infrastructure construction.
Mishustin suggested discussing at the talks the implementation of the decisions made at the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union intergovernmental council in Alma-Ata in early February, and preparations for the next meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union prime ministers, which is scheduled for late April in Kazan.
