The volume of loans taken out by citizens of Kyrgyzstan in dollars has decreased to a historical minimum and now amounts only to 28%, Kubanychbek Bokontayev, head of the National Bank of the republic, said on Friday in Bishkek during the conference "Development of the financial sector of Kyrgyzstan in modern conditions."

"Dollarization of the loan portfolio of the country's banking sector has decreased significantly, reaching a historic minimum of 28%," he said.

According to him, dollarization of deposits of the population is gradually decreasing, which according to the latest data is 42%.

According to the head of the main financial regulator of the country, this trend has become possible as a result of measures, taken by the National Bank to dedollarize the financial market.

Apart from reducing dependence on the American currency, the National Bank managed to reduce interest rates and increase the volume of financing for individuals and businesses by commercial banks.

As Bokontayev stressed, the Kyrgyz authorities are also currently considering digitizing the national currency.
