Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Interested in Supplying Electric Vehicles to Uzbekistan

23 April

Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is keen on supplying Uzbekistan with electric vehicles produced at the automobile plant in Nizhny Novgorod. The Russian region also sees prospects in tourism development and the import of vegetable products, as reported by TASS on the sidelines of the exhibition "Innoprom. Central Asia" in Tashkent, where the region's deputy governor Andrei Sanosyan spoke.

"I would like to highlight the Gorky Automobile Plant because it's actively working. Today, we're participating in a session dedicated to the use of green energy vehicles - electric cars and gas-fueled vehicles. The promotion of environmentally friendly transportation is one of the main goals of Innoprom," said Sanosyan.

He noted that the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is actively developing electric transportation. In 2021, a project to develop electric transportation and charging infrastructure was launched. The first initiative was the introduction of the Gazelle electric passenger car, which ferried people from the airport to the nearest metro station. "We became the first city in the country to greet guests with electric cars," said the deputy governor. He mentioned that each Gazelle has already transported more than 60,000 people. The Nizhny Novgorod region is also actively incorporating electric buses into its public transportation system.

According to Sanosyan, the region is also seen as a supplier of horticultural products. "This includes tourism as well. Nizhny Novgorod has a direct flight, always filled, and a large number of tourists travel from Nizhny Novgorod region to Uzbekistan. Similarly, a considerable number of people travel to Nizhny Novgorod region," noted the deputy governor.

In 2021, the international industrial exhibition Innoprom, which has been held in Russia since 2010, was organized abroad for the first time in Uzbekistan. The fourth international exhibition "Innoprom. Central Asia" is being held in Tashkent from April 22 to 24. More than 400 companies from 27 countries are participating in the forum. The event is hosted at the National Exhibition Center "Uzexpocentre" across an area of more than 14 thousand square meters. The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
