Prime Ministers of Russia and Kazakhstan discuss economic cooperation

Prime Ministers of Russia and Kazakhstan Mikhail Mishustin and Askar Mamin discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, the press service of the Russian government reported.


"Mishustin and Mamin discussed topical issues of Russian-Kazakh trade and economic cooperation and integration cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union," the press service said. According to her, "the heads of the government also touched upon the schedule of upcoming contacts on the intergovernmental line."


In July, Mishustin said that Russia and Kazakhstan should restore the growth rate of trade by the end of 2020. Trade and economic cooperation between the two countries decreased by about 7.5 percent in the first half of the year due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the Russian Prime Minister spoke in favor of resuming regular consultations with Kazakh partners to coordinate macroeconomic policy and proposed to develop and sign a new program of long-term economic cooperation between the governments of the countries until 2025.
