Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan invited the Russian business community to take part in an investment forum in Pakistan scheduled for the end of March, he said on Thursday at a meeting with representatives of the Russian business community in Moscow.
"We want to open our country to Russian business and for our businessmen to have more opportunities for interaction with Russia, which until now has remained at a very insignificant level," he said. According to him, the Russian-Pakistani trade turnover is currently less than $1 billion.
"At the end of March, we will have a meeting of investors, in connection with which we invite all members of the Russian business community. It will be a time when you can explore all the variety of investment opportunities," the prime minister said. He noted that the regional proximity of Pakistan, Central Asian countries and Russia offers a huge number of business opportunities.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan held talks in the Kremlin on Thursday. "The two leaders discussed the main issues of bilateral cooperation. There was an exchange of views on topical regional topics, including the situation in South Asia," the president's press service reported. Earlier in the day, Imran Khan took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin wall.
The Pakistani prime minister flew to Moscow on Wednesday at the invitation of the Russian president. He was the first Pakistani prime minister to visit Russia in more than two decades.
