Economic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are actively recovering from the pandemic crisis, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday.
"Relations between us are recovering after coronavirus, I mean primarily the economy. Last year there was a certain decline, now there is steady growth, recovery. Russia is confidently one of the leaders in the economy, and our intergovernmental commission is actively working," Putin said.
He noted that the countries have many areas of cooperation, and Russia plans to send a representative delegation to Azerbaijan in the near future. "It will be a mixed group in different directions, we mean the industry, transport, infrastructure, and some other issues," the Russian president added.
Putin's previous face-to-face meeting with Aliyev took place in January when Aliyev arrived in Moscow to attend talks on Karabakh. In addition, Putin and Aliyev talk regularly by phone. The last such conversation took place on June 23. The conversation focused on stepping up work in the trilateral format to restore economic ties and transport communications in the South Caucasus.
