Rail passenger service between Kyrgyzstan and Russia resumes

06 June 2022

Regular passenger rail service between the Russian Federation and Kyrgyzstan resumes on Monday. This was announced by the Kyrgyz Railways  state enterprise.

In particular, a passenger train starts running once a week on the route Bishkek - Kazan - Bishkek. On June 8, the train connection between the capital of Kyrgyzstan and Samara will be resumed and on June 9 - with Novosibirsk.

The Kyrgyz side reminded that the passengers of these trains should have the negative results of PCR-test, which must be passed within 48 hours.

Regular rail passenger service between Kyrgyzstan and Russia was suspended in the spring of 2020 because of the pandemic.

The agreement to resume passenger road and rail service was reached during the 22nd meeting of the Russian-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical, and humanitarian cooperation in Moscow in April.
