Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Sughd Region of Tajikistan and Lipetsk Region of Russia have agreed to expand trade and economic cooperation. This was reported on Monday by the press service of the regional administration.
"A number of cooperation agreements have been concluded between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sughd Region and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lipetsk Region, and further expansion of trade and economic cooperation is planned as part of these documents," the report said.
According to the press service, the agreements were reached during the meeting of the chairman of Sughd Region Rajabboy Ahmadzoda with a delegation of entrepreneurs of Lipetsk Region, which is headed by the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lipetsk Region Anatoly Goltsov in Tajikistan.
"Sughd region has great potential <...> The business communities of both regions can take steps to create joint ventures, which is in the interests of both sides," Ahmadzoda said. He also added that Sughd produces and processes a variety of agricultural products and their export to the Lipetsk region could be profitable. In turn, Goltsov noted that the Lipetsk region is ready to increase trade turnover, there is a demand for Tajik fruits and vegetables in Russia.
According to the Russian Trade Mission in Tajikistan, in 2020-2021, 67 subjects of the Russian Federation concluded trade relations with Tajikistan, 12 regions of which account for almost 80% of the total trade turnover with the republic, which includes Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Leningrad and Chelyabinsk regions. Interregional cooperation had a positive impact on trade between Russia and Tajikistan, which increased by 25% to $1.13 billion in 2021.
