Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant (NCCP, part of Rosatom's fuel company TVEL) will supply another batch of low-enriched nuclear fuel components for the ETRR-2 research reactor to Egypt in 2022 under a contract with the Egyptian Atomic Energy Organization (EAEA), TVEL's press service said Thursday.
The first deliveries under this contract were made in 2020 as part of a long-term framework contract for exports to Egypt of nuclear fuel components for the ETRR-2 reactor concluded between NPCK and EAEA.
"[Contract documents have been signed] for the delivery of the next batch of low-enriched nuclear fuel components to Egypt in 2022," the statement said.
The Argentine-designed ETRR-2 research reactor is located at the National Nuclear Research Center in the city of Inshas. It is used for research in particle physics, materials science, and radioisotope production. In 2017-2018, a wide range of uranium and aluminum nuclear fuel components produced by PJSC NCCP for the ETRR-2 reactor was supplied to Egypt.
